Linq to SQL: stored procedures usage from May 2006 CTP to Beta1

Hi guys, I'm a bit confused about stored procedure usage in LINQ. When May CTP 2006 release has been shipped calling a stored procedure to insert, update or remove a record was very simple. You had to decorate the method with InsertMethod, UpdateMethod and DeleteMethod. LINQ saw the decoration and call the related method instead of generating SQL instructions.
